Honor X70 and Play 70 Plus features image showcasing 8100mAh and 7000mAh battery, OLED and LCD displays, fast charging, and color options.

On July 4th, a reliable tipster revealed that Honor is preparing to launch a new budget smartphone this month, and it could be the brand’s next battery-focused beast.

The upcoming device will pack a massive 8100mAh battery, feature a 1.5K OLED display, and support flagship-grade communication tech, hinting at excellent durability and connectivity — making it a strong candidate in the entry-level segment. Judging by the hashtags and the pattern of leaks, this phone is most likely to be the Honor X70.

Earlier, another blogger leaked more detailed specs of the Honor X70, which is said to feature a 6.79-inch display, 80W fast charging, and a power-efficient processor — tailored for long runtime without compromising on essential performance. The phone is also expected to launch in three stylish colors:

  • Moon Shadow White
  • Bamboo Rhyme Green
  • Phantom Night Black

For reference, Honor launched the Honor X70i back in April with a starting price of 1399 yuan, which dropped to 1189 yuan with subsidies. The X60 series also started at 1199 yuan, so it’s fair to assume the Honor X70 will fall into a similar price bracket, keeping it competitive in the sub-midrange segment.

Honor Play 70 Plus Could Launch Alongside

Alongside the X70, Honor is also gearing up to launch another entry-level phone — the Honor Play 70 Plus, expected to go official later this month.

This device has reportedly passed China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) certification, and early specs hint at:

  • 6.77-inch LCD display (1610×720 resolution)
  • 7000mAh battery with 45W fast charging
  • 207g weight
  • 50MP rear and 5MP front camera

Clearly built for offline and entry-level markets, the Play 70 Plus is a practical phone for daily use, scanning QR codes, casual media, and basic tasks.

Can Honor X70 Live Up to the Legacy of the X50?

The Honor X50 was a standout success, especially for users who valued display quality and long battery life. But with the X70 moving from LCD to OLED, the question remains — can it repeat the magic?

While OLED is a visual upgrade, some users may miss the simplicity and comfort of LCD. Still, with that 8100mAh battery and 80W charging, the X70 could very well carve its own path in 2025.

Can the Honor X70 become another “budget hero” like its predecessor — or will it face tough competition? Let us know your thoughts!
