Apple is getting closer to launching its first Apple foldable iPhone. According to a report from the Korean publication ETNews, the company is finalizing its selection of key component suppliers, with the process expected to be completed by April.
This timeline suggests that Apple is nearing production, and large-scale component manufacturing could begin in the second half of 2025.
Apple Foldable Display Without Creases
One of the most exciting details from the leaks is about the display. Apple has reportedly made it a top priority to eliminate screen creases entirely, regardless of cost, to set its foldable phone apart from existing models.
An industry insider told ETNews, “Apple has decided to remove creases at all costs to differentiate its foldable phone from current models. It is believed that a new material property has been developed to make the crease disappear.”
Samsung as the Exclusive Display Supplier
Samsung Display is rumored to be Apple’s exclusive supplier for the foldable iPhone’s OLED panels. The Korean company has been working on a specialized display for Apple since last year, leveraging its experience as the first manufacturer to mass-produce foldable OLED screens.
Unique Screen Sizes and Aspect Ratios
Recent leaks from Chinese source Digital Chat Station suggest that the device might feature a 5.49-inch external display and a 7.74-inch internal screen when unfolded. Both screens are said to have “unprecedented aspect ratios.”
The external display is reportedly shorter and wider than the Oppo Find N5, which was launched globally last week.
