Huawei Pura80 Ultra Design and Lens Details Revealed

Huawei’s upcoming flagship, the Huawei Pura80 Ultra, has started surfacing in fresh leaks, offering the first solid look at its redesigned camera system and next-gen display technology. Shared by trusted source @DigitalChatStation, new images and hardware details of the engineering prototype reveal that Huawei is focusing heavily on both mobile photography and OLED innovation this year.

The standard Huawei Pura80 continues with the familiar triangular lens deco, but this time, it’s more visually balanced—gone is the previous “one large, two small” sensor layout. Instead, all three lenses now occupy roughly the same footprint, giving a clean, geometric finish.

However, the spotlight is on the Ultra variant, which is expected to retain the signature irregular triangular camera design, but with serious upgrades underneath the surface.

The Pura80 Ultra is rumored to include a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.3-inch sensor—notably larger than Samsung’s 1/1.4-inch HP9. This sensor will be coupled with a large aperture and Huawei’s signature RYYB color array, ensuring brighter, sharper telephoto shots, especially in low-light conditions.

This marks one of the biggest periscope hardware upgrades in Huawei’s recent flagship history.

At the core of the Huawei Pura80 Ultra camera setup is the Siteway SC5A0CS sensor—a 50MP, 1-inch CMOS sensor using an RYYB layout. It features a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, allowing the camera to adapt intelligently to different lighting scenarios and depth requirements.

It also supports LOFIC technology (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor), which improves dynamic range in difficult lighting conditions, such as backlit subjects or high-contrast scenes.

Additionally, Huawei is bringing back its Red Maple Prime Color lens, known for delivering more realistic and color-accurate results—especially in skin tones and natural lighting.

The Huawei Pura80 Pro and Huawei Pura80 Ultra models are expected to feature a 1.5K double-layer OLED micro-curved screen, made with stacked light-emitting units. This setup not only boosts peak brightness levels but also enhances power efficiency, potentially offering better outdoor visibility and improved battery life.

In contrast, the standard Pura80 will sport a flat 1.5K OLED panel, targeting users who prefer a more traditional screen feel without curves.

All models in the Pura80 lineup will reportedly be powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset, continuing Huawei’s return to its in-house silicon roadmap. The phones will come pre-installed with HarmonyOS 5, bringing improved system stability, ecosystem integration, and AI-based performance boosts.

The Huawei Pura80 series is expected to launch in June, with the Ultra model leading the pack in terms of innovation. From the massive camera hardware improvements to the cutting-edge OLED display, the Huawei Pura80 Ultra looks like a flagship designed to push mobile photography and visual experience to a new level.

More real-world testing and camera samples will ultimately reveal how well these upgrades perform, but on paper, Huawei is clearly aiming to re-establish its dominance in smartphone imaging.
