Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra is back in leaks, and this time the spotlight is on the selfie camera. A new post from tipster Ice Universe reveals detailed front camera specifications, and while the megapixel count remains the same, the upgrade could still be meaningful when compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
According to the leak, the Galaxy S26 Ultra Selfie Camera will feature a 12MP front camera using a Sony sensor. The setup is said to include a 1/3.2-inch sensor size, 1.12µm pixels, an f/2.2 aperture, and an 85° field of view. On paper, this looks similar to what Samsung has been using for a while, but the key change here is the sensor supplier and the reported wider lens.

Compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is not expected to bring a jump in selfie resolution, since both phones stay at 12MP with an f/2.2 aperture. However, if Samsung is switching to a Sony-made sensor for the S26 Ultra, it could improve consistency in skin tones, exposure, and HDR handling, especially in indoor lighting where Samsung selfie cameras sometimes struggle.

Another noticeable change is the reported 85° field of view, which suggests the Galaxy S26 Ultra may capture slightly wider selfies than the S25 Ultra. This could be a bigger upgrade than it sounds, as a wider lens helps with group selfies, travel shots, and handheld vlogging without forcing users to stretch their arm too far.

Overall, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s selfie camera upgrade doesn’t look dramatic on the spec sheet, but it could deliver a better real-world experience through improved sensor quality and a wider field of view. As always, Samsung’s final image processing will decide how big the difference feels, but this leak suggests the S26 Ultra is focusing on refinement rather than big headline changes.
